nora raggio
nora raggio researches personal + cultural space, deconstructs + constructs that space, re-creates the results of investigations into a variety of formats: web-based work, video, performance, painting, photo, + installations that come in huge, portable or mini dimensions. her work is almost always collaborative, be it in association with a group of individuals or with sponsoring organizations. she has worked with the following organizations in recent years: group A, MACLA (movimiento de arte y cultura latinoamericana), SF MOMA, zero one, media lab madrid, ISEA 2006 + in argentina with centro cultural recoleta + fundación rómulo raggio. people she has collaborated with include monica mark, alyssa lee, anjee helstrup-alvarez, sandra phillips, joel slayton, steve dietz, robin lasser; karin ohlenschläger + luis rico (in spain); nora hochbaum, graciela taquini, monica levi + luis ovsejevich (in argentina).

nora sees the interdependence of network nodes in contemporary art as something akin to salsa rueda, or casino rueda, where the rueda (circle) goes round + round, with participants flowing in + out of the circle + each contributing their rhythm + flow within a framework that has rules. these rules are called out by rueda participants—giving the flow an unpredictable + improvisational impetus.

nora was born in the U.S. – all of her immediate family + relatives are from argentina. she graduated in 2005 with an MFA from san josé state university (SJSU) with an emphasis in digital + installation arts.
