group A, a new media dance + performance group, was established in 2003 by alyssa lee. group A is committed to exploring the meaning of dance + action art by joining it with other art forms through collaborations with multiple artists in a variety of disciplines. under the direction of alyssa lee group A has created a versatile repertoire including: performance/action art happenings + installations; technology-based works with laser beams + sensors; dance + performance pieces using plastic bags, plastic wrap, duct-tape, paint, TVs, + fans; + conceptual works focusing on time, space, gender, + pop culture.

group A has been presented by the The International Symposium of Electronic Arts, Renaud-Wilson Dance Festival, Summerfest/Westwave Dance Festival, the Monterey Dance Festival, the American College Dance Festival, + others. group A has performed at places such as the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts, ODC, Theater Artuad, + Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, in addition to various venues in California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida, New York city, Lithuania, Germany, + Spain, at performance spaces, art galleries, multimedia parties, garages, installations, festivals, nightclubs, boats, + gardens.
